Meet the Team


Managing Director

Mary-Jane founded Kingsmeadows Nursery in 2000 having noticed a gap in the market as a Mum of two young children. Mary-Jane has completed her SVQ3, PDA Level 8 and Post-Graduate Diploma in Childhood Practice. She has also graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and completed Doctoral training as a Chartered Psychologist in 2017. In 2019 Mary-Jane also qualified as a Mindfulness teacher. 


Mary-Jane enjoys travelling and the outdoors and in the last few years has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, trekked the Inca Trail and rafted through the Grand Canyon.  


Setting Manager

Rebecca joined the team in 2007 with an NVQ but has since gone on to achieve her SVQ3, PDA Level 8 and a BA in Childhood Practice.In addition to her role as Setting Manager Rebecca also leads the Under 2's which is her favourite age group!


Rebecca enjoys the daily challenges her role brings, no day is ever the same but she wouldn't have it any other way.


Lead Practitioner

Dawn has been with Kingsmeadows Nursery since 2006, she achieved her SVQ3 before joining the team but has now gone on to complete her SVQ4. Dawn enjoys the challenges of working with the 2-3 years age group and has found her qualifications to be extremely helpful in ensuring best practice and continuous improvement.


Dawn enjoys keeping fit and going out with friends and family.


Depute Manager

Janey is the Depute Manager and also Lead Practitioner in the Rainbow Room (3-5 years) and has been part of the team for 12 years, achieving both SVQ3 and PDA Level 8 qualifications during her time with Kingsmeadows Nursery.


Janey enjoys reading, crosswords and walking, especially her annual walking holiday in Spain with friends.  


Lead Practitioner

Nicola first joined the team whilst still at High School and helped with the After School Club where her ambition and interest in chilcare grew. Nicola has now achieved her SVQ3 and PDA Level 8 and is Lead Practitioner for the Out of School and Holiday Club.


Nicola volunteers as a Brownie leader in her spare time and is also a member of the local Pipe Band.



Fiona has been with Kingsmeadows Meadows Nursery for over 16 years and gained

her SNNEB from Borders College in 1992. Fiona enjoys working with children who require extra support and has completed training to expand her knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.


In her spare time Fiona enjoys the outdoors and walking her dogs.


Trainee Practitioner

Lauren joined the team in 2018, she is currently working towards achieving her SVQ3. Lauren previously worked in hospitality management before joining us for a new challange. The majority of her time is spent working with the under 2's. Lauren also runs baby sensory classes locally for children locally. 


In her spare time Lauren enjoys travel and exploring the outdoors with her family

Lisa S


Lisa has been working with children since she was 16 and has been with Kingsmeadows Nursery for 3 years. She has completed her Health & Social Care Level 2, SVQ2 and SVQ3.


Lisa plays in the local pipe band and also plays netball in her spare time.



Abbie joined the team in 2017 and completed her SVQ in 2019. She spends most of her time in K2 with the Out of School Club but enjoys working with every age group.


Abbie spend her free time riding her horse and is an active member of the Peebles Agricultural Club 



Margaret has been part of the team since 2011 and was previously a primary school teacher, qualifying through Manchester Metropolitan University after gaining her degree from Edinburgh University. Margaret will usually be found guitar in hand, supporting the children in musical activities throughout the nursery.


In her spare time Margaret enjoys playing the piano and also sings with an established choir in Edinburgh.



Brenda first worked with Kingsmeadows Nursery during her placement whilst completing her SVQ2 through Borders College. Following a successful placement she then became a permanent member of the team in 2006 and completed her SVQ3 in 2009.


Brenda enjoys playing darts, meeting new people and going out with friends.



Lizzie has been working in the childcare sector since she was 16, gaining a BTEC Diploma in Nursery Nursing and has been with Kingsmeadows Nursery from our opening back in 2000!


Lizzie enjoys caring for her pets, reading, walking and spending time with her son.



Holly started with Kingsmeadows Nursery in February 2017 and has now completed her SVQ3 in Childcare. She spends most of her time with the babies but enjoys working with all age groups in the nursery. 


 Holly enjoys travelling having recently spent time in Southeast Asia and living in New Zealand before returning home. She enjoys seeing new places, spending time with family and friends and good food!




Catriona started with Kingsmeadows Nursery in January 2017 after spending nine years as a childminder and is enjoying the change of environment and experiences and has recently completed her SVQ3.


Catriona enjoys spending time travelling with her family as well as attending as many food festivals as possible!




Yvonne joined Kingsmeadows Nursery in February 2017 and has completed her SVQ3. Alongside her work with the nursery Yvonne is also a Staff Nurse and qualified in 2003.


Yvonne is also a qualified

remedial and sports massage therapist which led to her working with the Scottish rugby team during the 6 Nations!



Enjoys going for walks with the children!

Rebecca L


Rebecca joined the team in 2017 and has since completed her BA in Childhood Practice . 


In her spare time Rebecca enjoys baking, cooking and reading



Hilary joined the team in 2018 and has enjoyed making and developing nutritious and delicious recipes for the children.


In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her young children, gardening and watching movies. 



Hayley joined the team in 2013 and has gained her SVQ3 in that time. You can usually find Hayley with our Under 3's age group.


Hayley has a 3 year old daughter who she spends all her free time with doing all sorts of fun activities!



Hannah joined the team in 2017 after completing her HNC in childhood practice. She works mainly in the sunshine room with our 2 year olds.


In her spare time Hannah enjoys spending time with her daughter, walking her dogs and socialising with friends. 


Trainee Practitioner

Emma joined the team in 2019 and is currently working towards her SVQ3 in childcare. Most of Emma's work time is spent in the Sunshine room which she reallty enjoys.


In her spare time Emma helps on the family farm and is also a member of Peebles Young Farmers. I enjoy photography, cooking, sewing, socialising and baking.
